Dowjac Miss Frances - Call name: "Frances".
Frances is one of two litter sisters we kept, along with "Red".
Whilst our line-breeding program was aiming at getting something resembling the Great Grandfather, and our Kennel's best ever dog, "Locky" (or his son, "Jimmy"), we had the extreme fortune of having a boy come out like Jimmy/ Locky and a girl come out who is almost the spitting image of her Grandmother, Grand Ch Dowjac Venus - "Bridie" - (both "Jimmy" and "Bridie" were children from repeat matings with "Locky" and "Mary Rose").
Frances looks to have a great future, as she has her Grandmother's head (described by one Basset Specialist Judge as "the best head I have ever seen on a Basset Hound"), body shape and balanced appearance, angulation and even her markings !
If having these two puppies turn out like their respective Grandparents is what lies ahead, then Dowjac Bassets is looking forward to a few years of great fun and hopefully success in the ring !
Frances won a Baby-Puppy in Group in her last show in that class and has made an impressive start in her career with the "Big Kids".
She has taken out a Bitch Challenge and also a Runner up to Best of Breed in her first three shows.
Whilst she is still very "puppy like", she is slowly coming out of her shell and will be a hard girl to beat once she realises how much fun she can have at the shows !
